First of all, to configure a listening of keywords remember that:


  1. you need to access Social Elephants with administrator credentials, since setting up listening consumes quota of volume of data associated with your billing plan. 
  2. you need to install owned social profiles in the social networks where you want to perform the listening. 

The Listening functionality can be accessed by clicking the "Listening" button available in the dashboard.  Click "+" to set up a new Listening.







The configuration of a new Listening includes:
  • Internal name: this is an internal label, only visible on Social Elephants
  • Search: it's possible to add multiple keywords to capture all the desired content related with the Listening, with and without hashtag, different variations of the same hashtag. The search function is case insensitive but be careful with special characters (ó, è, ñ, ç, ü, ...). If you enter an expression, remember that the listening works with exact match, with and without #/@ at the beginning of the searched keyword. Also remember that Instagram only supports the search of #hashtags, so any expression will be converted to an hashtag search for this social network. 

examples:


If you set "pizza" it will also match with "#pizza" and "@pizza"

If you set "car" it will also match with "Car"

If you set "car" it won't match with "cars"

If you set "español" it won't match with "espanol"
If you set "I want a pizza" it won't match with "I want a big pizza"
If you set "I want a pizza", it will search "#Iwantapizza" on Instagram 

  • Option to send to INBOX & Analyze Sentiment: you can send the collected messages to the INBOX so that the community manager can revise them one by one, treating them as if they were @mentions of your account or replies to your tweets. If the Sentiment analysis is switched on, this content will be processed too. Use this check box only when you expect low volume of messages, otherwise your INBOX will be flooded and you will consume your quota of Sentiment Analysis. We suggest to activate this function only when you really need to moderate each single contribution carefully (for example for a contest) and you are especially interested to get the overall Sentiment. 


  • Start/End dates: set the period of time when you want to collect data. The dates will be stored in our system to let you quickly search in the calendar the date ranges when your social actions took place.


To complete the set up you just need to specify which Social Profiles will collect the content and the insights of your Listening. 



 

Click "Accept" to confirm and the Listening will be ready to start collecting data.
